WORKING WITH YOUR WEBSITE
Securing WordPress
Securing a WordPress website is actually not difficult. Basically, it's just normal housekeeping that makes your website secure. There are simple but very effective measures you can take to protect your website.

BACKGROUND
What exactly do we need to protect our websites from?
Most attacks on WordPress are not motivated by personal reasons. Targeted attacks, such as those on political websites, are very rare. In most cases, attackers are after other things, even when there is “nothing to gain.”

OUR TIP
Two-factor authentication
When we log in somewhere, we usually enter a username and password. Very often, the username is an email address or can be replaced by it. This part is therefore relatively easy to guess. If someone then finds out the password, the account is hacked.

HOW DOES THAT WORK AGAIN?
Managing Passwords
A secure password consists of at least 12 characters. But no one can remember that many characters. Even writing them down on pieces of paper quickly reaches its limits. The best way to manage secure passwords is with a password manager. The program stores all passwords securely and encrypts them. Among other things, you can see when you last changed a password or whether you have used the same password multiple times. Our recommendation would be 1Password (not a paid advertisement).

AND OTHERWISE
The hole
We are about to spend our vacation in a seaside cottage. The journey to get here was long. We open the door to the garden and let the dog out. One of the features of this vacation home is its “fenced garden.”
Seconds later, the dog is gone, and it becomes clear: there is a hole in the fence. When a dog goes missing in unfamiliar surroundings, it's not a pleasant experience. Full of concern, we get ready to search for her. Then we hear a familiar bark: the dog is standing in front of the gate. She is obviously delighted to see us and overjoyed when she is allowed back in. The hole was exciting, but she is a gentle soul, her thirst for adventure didn't last long, and she soon became frightened. She couldn't find the hole again, but she discovered the gate.
Since then, we walk around every property once. Without the dog. Because a fence is only as good as its weakest point.
